Before we even arrived, Embark hosted several preliminary meetings and provided a training plan, which I adjusted to fit my abilities and goals while training in Atlanta. Those touchpoints made a huge difference in confidence and preparedness. Altitude sickness was, of course, a concern going into the climb. While my own preparation helped, what truly mattered was the incredible support system provided by Embark. The porters, guides, and staff were invaluable throughout the entire journey. Their laughter, stories, encouragement, and well-timed jokes were honestly a recipe for success. I also appreciated the arrival day in the city and the post-summit celebration. I’m not much of a dancer, but I gladly joined in celebrating our shared achievement — it felt earned and meaningful. Summit night itself was one of the hardest challenges I’ve ever faced — second only to surviving cancer. “Pole Pole” wasn’t just a slogan; it became the guiding principle that carried us forward. There were several moments of “WTHs and WTFs?” along the way, but Embark’s guides were there at every step, providing steady encouragement, reassurance, and physical support. They were awesome! Reaching the summit was tough — but surprisingly, the descent was just as long and demanding. Once again, the guides were right there, checking in, motivating us, and making sure no one was left behind. Fantastic experience: Went with Embark on a Kilimanjaro trip for Zero Peaks Challange. Every detail from airport pick up to transfers to meals was flawless. The local guides and porters were outstanding. Everyone was very friendly. The meals were great. I joked I was on an eating vacation with some hiking on the side. Got to spend a lot of time with Carrie (co owner) and learned so much from her. She was obviously very invested in Embark and is funny, supportive and all around nice. It was the trip of a lifetime

Fantastic experience: I cannot say enough good things about my experience trekking Kilimanjaro with Embark. From preparing us ahead of time with Zoom calls and a training plan to meeting us on the ground and ensuring that we had all the right stuff for the journey. Fantastic experience: I went with a veteran's group to climb Mt. Kilimanjaro. From pick up to summit the Embark team was professional and supportive. From the airport pickup, hotel stay, and meals on the trail; to the daily encouraging words, I felt the team not just showing me the path up but engaging and making my hike a truly wonderful experience. Fantastic experience: I enthusiastically recommend Embark Exploration Co.! We hiked Mt. Kilimanjaro with them in July of 2025 and have never been so pampered. The food on the climb was ridiculously delicious and I still miss being woken up in my tent with hot coffee. The guides and porters are some of the hardest working humans I've met. They did everything they could to make sure our summit attempt was a success. I could not have done it without them! Embark planned everything, all I had to worry about was training.

Fantastic experience: The EMBARK team of guides, porters, cooks, and camping crew are exceptional in every way!!! I traveled to Tanzania to hike Kilimanjaro and found the most amazing, beautiful, and super fit team of men, and a few awesome women, that lit up my world!!! Their joy and happiness was felt every step of the way!!! Reaching the top of Kilimanjaro was a big accomplishment for me although the EMBARK Tanzanian spirit remains the highlight of my trip.

Fantastic experience: I was referred to Embark Exploration Co. by someone I know and trust, and I was so impressed with their professionalism. I reached out to Donovan about Safari options. Even though I had already decided to go with another tour operator for my Kilimanjaro hike, I still feel confident giving Embark 5 stars for their outstanding service. Donovan got back to me quickly, and even after finding out I’d chosen a different company, he was nothing but kind and professional. He even spoke positively about the other tour operator, which really says a lot about his character and integrity. While I can’t comment on the actual experience, I wouldn’t hesitate to reach out to Embark in the future. Their great communication and genuine approach made a lasting impression!

We were provided a travel dossier with a detailed breakdown of every day. The thoroughness of the plan was comforting and answered many of my questions. While on the mountain, our guides and porters were extraordinarily professional. They went above and beyond to make sure our climb was safe, comfortable, and memorable. They even dealt with the idiosyncrasies of my crazy friends . They accomodated my friends’ diet restrictions for the whole climb. The work ethic of climbing group was unparalleled. Simply amazing. Fantastic experience: A group of 22 of us recently did the Salkantay Trek leading to Machu Picchu. I cannot say enough about Embark & how awesome everything was!! Fantastic experience: I used this company for a recent Mount Kilimanjaro trip. They took care of everything and answered all questions in advance of the trip. Upon arrival, everything was arranged, we had amazing, informative, and talented guides at every stage, including help from one of the most experienced guides on the mountain, Mark, who helped get me to the top and down safely. I really like how this company has a true footprint in Africa and cares about the porters and people who work the mountain. If you are going to attempt Kili, do it with Embark!

Fantastic experience: My girlfriend and I trekked to Everest Base Camp through Embark and it was absolutely wonderful. From the moment we stepped out of the airport to our last day in Nepal, and everything in between, we were totally taken care of. Our guide Pasang was incredible, the hotel in Kathmandu was nice, and covid tests were scheduled for us for our flight home. Embark made our trip to Nepal very low stress and we were able to focus solely on trekking. Highly recommend!

Fantastic experience: I had an excellent time summiting Mt Kilimanjaro. It was exciting, exhausting and fun at the same time! The porters and the guides were the best! Fantastic experience: Embark Exploration helped me fulfill a dream I've had for over 20 years - in fact, it couldn't have happened without them. My trip to Tanzania to climb Kilimanjaro (and the add-on safari) with Embark far exceeded my expectations. I expected to enjoy myself and be taken care of by Embark's team and hopefully make it up the mountain, but this was absolutely the time of my life. Not only did I make it up the mountain, but thanks to Embark's amazingly supportive guides and porters AND their pre-trip training guide, I felt great the whole time! And the food... I could rave about it forever. Bruno, please come and cook for me. The team shared on the mountain that they tailor the menu somewhat depending on where group members are coming from, but what I especially enjoyed was the Tanzanian cuisine that was prepared. ALL of it was delicious. As we hiked during the day, we'd see porters carrying up some of the fresh ingredients used to prepare our meals. When we arrived at camp, our tents were set up, the private and clean toilet tent ready for use, and a snack with a hot beverage ready for us. I miss our guides, and I didn't want the climb to end... But I was so glad I followed it up with a safari. Our guide was knowledgeable and did a great job of finding animals, and the lodging and food were fantastic. I could keep gushing about how amazing Embark is, but I need to go finalize plans for my next adventure with them - the trek to Everest Base Camp. You won't regret traveling with Embark!

Fantastic experience: Climbing Mt. Kilimanjaro was a lifelong dream of mine, and selecting Embark Exploration Co. was the best decision I made in achieving this dream. The owner, Donovan P., is full of knowledge and extremely responsive and supported by an outstanding admin team that helps coordinate things like flights, insurance, itineraries, etc. My flight was delayed and my luggage was lost (through no fault of Embark), and they were instrumental in helping me get my gear and back on track. Where Embark shines most, however, is the their crew on the ground in Tanzania. The hotel in Moshi is very comfortable, and we had excellent service from all the team members. The guides and porters are outstanding, I cannot say enough about them. Kind, positive attitude, amazing work ethic, and the ability to bound up and down the mountain with 30 lbs. on their head, I still have no clue how they do it. Accommodations and meals were excellent, with a dedicated cook and waiter. I learned a lot about myself, the mountain, and Tanzania. Highly recommend Embark Exploration Co. if you are considering climbing Kilimanjaro, you will not regret it. John Lee
