Over the years, this place has never disappointed me. Having traveled across North America and the Caribbean for fly fishing, I always find myself measuring other shops against the high standards set by Tailwaters. Tailwaters is unparalleled. The team, including knowledgeable individuals like Sean, Cristian, and Eno, has been instrumental in solidifying my passion for fly fishing and fly tying. The Dallas Tyers Club has been particularly helpful in teaching me the essentials, such as which flies to use and when. They provide guidance on hatch charts, seasonal fly choices, and proper fly tying techniques. This club has also connected me with other knowledgeable locals, enriching my experience. Additionally, Tailwaters' bar and weekend events add a delightful touch to my visits.

Experiencia fantástica: Stopped by to get information about fly fishing lessons for my sons today and the staff was incredible! I had to drag my sons into the shop because they were not excited about learning about fly fishing, however, once they were there, they felt so welcome that they did not want to leave! Shawn was patient and thorough in answering my endless questions about fly fishing lessons and fishing expeditions. Staff members, Lawson and Noah, were very nice and engaged with my sons about sports and even piqued their interest in fishing. Their dog, Pato, was adorable and an added bonus to our visit! I highly recommend Tailwaters and now understand why they have 5 stars. Well deserved!

The staff was very friendly and very KNOWLEDGEABLE and the store was stocked with different kinds of fly fishing and reel fishing equipment. Experiencia negativa: Visit this afternoon was a major disappointment. Way too crowded. Vendor reps were far to busy talking to themselves to allow my friend and I to ask questions about rods and reels. Cashiers were slammed selling shirts and shorts.

Experiencia fantástica: I was amazed with the level of service provided by the staff at this store. My first time in Madison helped me by pointing me in the right direction on some flies for Bass, Striper, and Carp fishing. Bo also assisted me with some feedback on a few fly rods and general fly fishing knowledge. I had a good couple of days fishing but lost a few of my new flies. I went back later in the week on a weekday and Sean spent about an hour with me discussing fly rods. I went in for a 6wt rod and fly line. He assisted with both. I purchased a 6wt Sage Maverick. I put the line on my existing reel, loaded the reel on the rod, went out to Ray Roberts and slammed the sandies. The rod was priced higher than my initial budget but i am so glad I decided to spend a little more. The rod loads up very well and casts so smooth. Bo also honored my birthday discount, even though I was in 2 days before i received the coupon, and he provided a lot of information on getting connected in the north texas fly fishing community. Thanks Tailwaters for a great experience.
